Sir Poops and Hair Ball: ISWG: When the Tough Get Going

Good morning, nice people. This morning I've decided to just read. So I pulled my bed and blanket up onto the bookshelf where there are lots of books. We have a ton. Daddy-o loves Tom Clancey novels. Mummsy reads all kinds of books.

Anyway, watching Mummsy write and write and write gets to me sometimes. Especially the days when she just stares at her computer screen for hours and then she does a frustrated face palm.

On days like that she ends up reading, beta reading, or critiquing another's work. It keeps her in the groove.

The writer's life can be tough. So when the tough get going, pull up your bed and grab your blanket along with a good book.
This was written on behalf of all our writerly friends who are a part of Alex J. Cavanaugh's Insecure Writer's Group. We post the first Wednesday of every month to offer encouragement or to cry about our insecurities.

You can also find this group on Facebook.

Lots of licks,
Sir Poops

  1. My dogs would've responded to this post personally, but they're both in bed with their blankets. Apparently, watching their mom write is incredibly boring.

I like to curl up with a good book when I get stuck, too.

    1. It's gloomy outside in Florida today, too. All the more reason to hunker down in the bed with a good book.

  2. Curling up under the blankets is always more than welcome.

I'm reading Clancy's last novel... like the last few of them, this one isn't impressing me.

  3. Mummsy has never read Clancy. She doesn't like his bookcovers.

  4. I like the movies based on Clancy 's books better than the books themselves. Too much techno-crap.

  5. Pick up a book and read - you just might be inspired!

  6. I wish my car would read rather than taking the house apart piece by piece.

  7. What a great post today.
What a little cutie-pie all curled up with his blanket.
I am trying to read a little each day. One of the meds I am on makes it hard to concentrate ... this from someone who used to read three books at a time.
But colder days always make me want to read.

    cheers, parsnip

  8. I always find reading books helps me get into the writing groove too. And it's a perfect passtime when the weather is pants.
Love the pictures of the dogs. I wish I could curl up like that today.

    1. Sometimes you just have to curl up all day and read.

  9. Your dogs are so funny. My dog is too prissy acts like a diva to blog for me. :) I don't blame you for taking time out to read! I don't have one particular genre that I like better though. It just depends on how I feel. I like a toss up humor, romance and mysteries, especially based on true mysteries. I am currently rereading a couple classics I found last year in a second chance book store. :)

    1. The one talking today is my little priss. Hair Ball refers to him as pansy.

  11. Yep, our fur bubs definitely need attention, or at least contact, some of the time we're in our writerly worlds :)

  13. I've gotten into my little modes. After all is taken care of, I get to the computer and try and write. Bath time. Then crochet time-which is helped along with something to drink (not always wine, it's sometimes just flavored water), and then dinner and after that, I read. But I like to read when I have a good book waiting for me. I've exhausted those as of late.

8/2. A dog barked from under the debris. Must have picked up the scent of a rescue dog. http://t.co/hhjzXKKsvj
