Sir Poops and Hair Ball: Spreading the News and Cheering on the Run Away Bride Give Away, with Shelly Arkon

IMG_0146

SPAL: Usually we do What’s Your Nosh Tuesday but today we’re celebrating Mummsy’s book.

HB: Yay! Its on Amazon and everyone gets a FREE TREATS for the next three days. Right, Mummsy?

SA: That’s right. Free Ebooks to everyone.

HB: Are you going to tell everyone what a good boy I am, too?IMG_0139

SPAL: No. I’m the good boy. You’re stupid.

HB: Am not. You’re a pansy. I’m the good boy.

SPAL: Not. I am.

SA: Okay. You two. Stop it! This is a party. And I have a few more things to say.

HB: Like what?

SA: Like, I will be doing a drawing for 4 names. Two people will receive 15 dollar amazon cards and two will receive an autographed copy of Secondhand Shoes.

SPAL: What must they do to have their names put into the drawing?

SA: Down in the comment box leave some advice for the run away bride and promise to Tweet and share on Facebook. In fact, I made it easy for everyone. All they have to do is copy and paste. I’m using the good old fashioned honor system here. Rafflecoptors freeze up my computer.

SPAL: That seems really easy.

HB: Yeah. Can you tell people what your favorite nosh is? And when I can have some?

IMG_0141

SPAL: Oh brother! You’re going to bug Mummsy, too.

SA: I’ll give him a treat in a bit. But what I like to snack on the most is dark chocolate. I love the taste of bittersweet. Dove is my favorite because it has a smooth texture against my tongue-almost like a velvet blanket when it begins to melt. However, I stick with one piece a day. I don’t want to get big-butt-syndrome. So I mostly keep carrots, celery, apples, and protein bars around. When I get into writing a scene, I don’t want to have to stop to prepare some huge meal.

HB: I want some chocolate. PLEASE!

SA: No. Its not good for you.

SPAL: Mummsy, tell the nice people how we help you write.

SA: Well, Sir Poops sits to the right of me on his own chair and Hair Ball lays at my feet. They’re really good listeners when I need to read something out loud. They also help me figure out difficult scenes.

HB: Yeah. we do. We’re good boys, but I’m the better more gooder fur peep in all the world.

SPAL: ***shakes his head**** Anyway, nice people, you can find Mummsy’s book on the link below and don’t forget to Tweet, Facebook, and leave some advise for Lila in the comment boxes if you want to be put into her drawing.

IMG_0147

HB: Yeah. We’re going to draw the names and announce them next Tuesday. So  all you nice people go get a FREE Ebook. Okay?

Blogtour badge for PIP

SPAL: Oops! A big one. I think I’m going to hide in my box today. I screwed up.

0330111950-00

HB: Yeah. You did. See who’s stupid now, pansy? It’s not me.

0328111236-01

SPAL: ***rolls his eyes***

HB: Or are you suffering from Alzheimer’s. But its more like stupid-itis. How could you lose the interview? We have nothing to post now.

SPAL: Well, we’ll send people HERE to learn more about how they can get some really neat stuff and learn about their really cool books they’ve launched for everyone’s reading pleasure.

HB: They’re going to be really mad at you.

SPAL: That’s why I’m staying in my box today. I apologize Gwen and Angela. I sorry. Really. I am.

Sir Poops and Hair Ball: What’s Your Nosh, Author Gwen Gardner

IMG_0485SPAL:Today we’re doing What’s Your Nosh. We nursed Mummsy back to health. She’s doing much better now. So we’re back to share what new and Indie authors are writing.

HB: Yeah. For nosh. Eats. Foodies. Treats. IMG_0531Just leave your donations in the mugs. We really appreciate this, including my pansy brother. Don’t let his dignified self fool you.

SPAL: ***elbows HB*** We’re here to help our fellow authors out there.

HB: No. It’s a guise for good eats. And you know it.

SPAL: Maybe it is for you, stupid. But not for me. Anyway, today we have author Gwen Gardner coming. I think I see her now.

IMG_0350HB: I wonder what she’s bringing us to eat. See anything in her hands?

SPAL: Just behave.

HB: Can I hug her leg?

SPAL: ***steps in front of him*** Absolutely not! ***he looks out at the blogsphere*** Everyone please welcome Gwen Gardner.

HB: ***jumps up and down*** Hey, nice lady! Hey! What you got for us today…

SPAL: Apologies. He means what do you like to nosh on when writing? Tell us why.

GG: Generally, I don’t eat while I’m writing. BUT! (and this is why I don’t usually eat while writing) I recently had a huge box of hot tamales and ate so many, well, you know what happens when you eat too much sugar, right? I love the sweet with the hot combination – it’s sooo addicting.

HB: That would make some hot poops.

SPAL: ***he shoos at HB*** Shh!

HB: I don’t think we should eat those. It would make our tushies burn. Mummsy would get upset if we scooted out butts on the carpet.

SPAL: ***looks at HB*** This is not the time to discuss this. ***he turns and looks at Gwen Gardner*** Nice lady, is it crunchy or soft?

GG: It’s chewy/gummy/sticky.

HB: Oooo. That would get stuck in your butt. Hot and sticky. That would really burn then.

SPAL: ***elbows him*** So nice lady, is it salty or sweet?

GG: Definitely sweet. And cinnamon-y.

HB: Sweet? Sugar? I want some.

SPAL: ***he looks over at HB*** Just be quiet. ***he looks back at Gwen Gardner*** Do these hot tamales get your creative juices flowing?

GG: Since I write YA, it does sort of make me feel like a teenager again. Without the pimples, I mean. So yeah, it gets me in the zone.

HB: I want to go to the zone. The food zone.

SPAL:***rolls his eyes*** Do you have any published books to share, nice lady? What are they? Where can we find them?

GG: My first book, GIVIN’ UP THE GHOST, a YA paranormal cozy mystery, will be self-published on Amazon on October 8th – the first day of my blog tour with my awesome writing buddy/critique partner Angela Brown. We both write YA paranormal so we teamed up under the Partners in ParanormYA banner and are releasing our books and touring Blogtown together. When I’m not touring, I’ll be hanging out at my blog, Gwen Gardner, YA Author.

SPAL: This fun tour starts next Monday. We’re going to help, too.

HB: Yeah. But don’t bring hot tamales. Bring some sugar to the event. That won’t make our butts burn and will keep us from scooting them on Mummsy’s carpet.

SPAL: Also, E.J. Wesley is having his Bury the Hatchet Blogfest. This event ends October 19th. So go to The Open Vein to sign up up for some really cool treats like a Nook.

Lots of licks,

Insecure Writer’s Group: Worry

InsecureWritersSupportGroupCan you believe its another first Wednesday of another month? Holy Schmoly! We’re barreling right into fall. Where did the summer go?

Anyway, the first Wednesday of the month is Alex J. Cavanaugh's Insecure Writer’s Group where we writer’s help lift each others’ pens and fingers up so we can continue to write our little hearts out. And where we give huggy-hugs and encouragement to one another when one of us is feeling a little off kilter about our writing abilities.

And today I’m feeling a little off. I’m overwhelmed to be honest. Secondhand Shoes will be out real soon and I worry about the small list of things yet to do.

Right now I’m working on finishing the proofread. But I have yet to perfect the blurb. I think I’m about there. And I have to write a dedication, a memoriam, and acknowledgment page. When I think about all that still needs to be down I get anxiety and heart palpitations. Writing a novel…just the novel never gives me these irritating feelings. Why does everything else?

Monday, I received my copyright letter. And last week I was freaking out because I couldn’t find my username and password to my Library of Congress account.  Schwoo! Its strange how things work out. I wished I could remember this an not worry, but…

Oh my God, I worry that something will happen to my MS when its transposed into HTML.

I worry that I’m too much of a moron to download it to Amazon and Create Space.

Once its out there, I worry that no one will like it.

I keep telling myself, once I get through each step all will be well.

Hopefully, I won’t get another three day migraine. This past Sunday, one came knocking at my forehead. It made itself all nice and comfy around my right eye, squeezing the sight out of it. Fat ole, mean ole migraine. I spent yesterday nursing my head and eye back to normalcy. This unwelcome visitor-which comes frequently-messes up my to do list big time. That worries me.

Anyway, next Friday, September 12th, I’ll be doing another cover reveal. I’ll be doing two drawings for 10 dollar Amazon cards for those who would like to help with the reveal. If anyone is interested, please say so in the comment boxes.

Also, if anyone is interested in reading a story ARC please say so. I’ll be glad to e-mail one to you.

A Holiday, Sweetman’s Date Night, A Bloghop, and More FREE Books

Happy Labor Day, everyone!

Today, I’ll be hanging with the Sweetman. Yesterday, his back went out. So I don’t know if we’ll be keeping the same plans of driving to St. Pete to go to the Dali Museum. We shall see.

Saturday night we were supposed to go to Tarpon Springs for their once-a-month Greek Night. I was so looking forward to spinach pie and baklava, but on the way home from work Sweetman called me and said, “Where do want to go for dinner? How about the Olive Garden?”

What, I thought. What happened to Greek Night?

“And we really need a new television for our bedroom. We need a flat screen so I figured we could go to the new HHGREG store.” Sweetman has been dying for a flat screen for the bedroom. And he drools for shopping.

Crap, I thought. I hate shopping. And I’m definitely not a fan of Olive Garden.

So I endured a fake Italian dinner and got dragged to a store that’s not to open until October. But he did haul me over to Best Buys and walked through rows and rows of flat screens.

Sweetman didn’t like the pricing. So he said, “Let’s go to Sam’s Club.”

That was our fun filled date night.

Hair Trivia Answer From Friday

Friday, I asked a question on Egyptian hair styles.  And nobody gave me an answer.

When I think of Egyptians, I think of their elaborate hair dos, which by the way are wigs. Back in the day the men even sported fake beards. They wore them strictly for holidays and religious ceremonies. On regular days they wore their own hair, which was a short do or a bald do.
