R is for Robb Logger, A Book Review for Strangers on a Bus

Here’s a little diddy from his book:

I love people, but I’m more than a little afraid of them. People do things like cut other

people’s heads off and put them in freezers. People say things around little kids that scar

them for life. People need to work on their act quite a bit before I’m going to get involved

with them to a greater extent than I do.

Warning: Before I go further, I must tell all who suffer from bladder issues and cry easily be prepared. Make sure you’ve doubled your Depends and you’ve got plenty of Puffs in plain sight. Not only will Robb make you laugh but he’ll make you cry, too.

Let’s move on….(Robb’s line)

Robb has this unique ability to pull you into his story, his world, and point of views. This one is a memoir of sorts. A funny but heart warming one where he embarks on a journey back to his homeland, Canada, after a break-up with his long term girlfriend, and meets another girl on the bus he names Gertrude. Is this the beginning of a new romance? Get the book.

While on this journey he contemplates what went wrong with his relationship in a notebook, while forming a new relationship of sorts with Gertrude. He’s also writing things down as they happen on his journey. In spots, his imagination does get carried away(there’s a really cool dressing room scene) and he’s got you believing certain things are really happening when they’re not.

In fact, you wish they really did happen but he’s as honest as he is polite. He confesses each time when he knows he’s got you by the seat of your Depends. It’s all part of Robb humor. Yes, it’s a bit twisted but that’s what makes it a great read. I had a hard time putting it down. It’s a page turner folks.

And the end, really got me. Its’ unexpected and makes me a true Robb follower. And no, I won’t give it away. Buy the book yourself. Find out what I mean.

Robb when’s the next book coming out? Will there be a sequel? You deserve ten stars for this one.

A Book Review: Robb Logger’s, Don’t Go There

DontGoThere

Here’s a little flavor from Robb’s book:

The best Sweden could offer was a hotel likely made by a manic obsessive compulsive Swede with an ice pick and a lot of free time. Greece was a haven for dirty old men with cameras. The Land of Oz didn‟t have a good fairy or a wicked witch. Russia turned out to be the world‟s equivalent of the fat girl you would think twice about at the end of the night, even with their nine last calls, and Mexico scared the hell out of me.

Anyone can buy this book for ninety-nine cents on Amazon.com. It’s worth every laugh. It will tickle your brain, and make your cheeks hurt. Make sure you’re sitting in a pair of Depends. You might pee yourself, too.

Let’s move on….(Robb’s line, not mine)

One thing I like about Robb’s writing, he’s got manners and is consistent with such. He always addresses readers as dear readers or dear and patient readers.

Robb took careful time in doing research on certain countries for vacation spots so you wouldn’t have to. He used their websites’ homepages and Wiki-pedia for the important information that he delivered in his book. Thank you, Robb. I believe you’ve made your parents proud. Thank you for the warnings why no one should visit these places. Beware of perverts and hagglers. They lurk in other countries, too.

Let’s move on…

He researched the following countries for you: Sweden, Greece, Australia, Mexico, Russia, Ireland, Switzerland, Egypt, and Canada.

Mexico scared me the most. Been there myself. And yes, it scared the hell out of me. Too bad the book didn’t exist in 1997, the year I went there.I’ll never forget the tugboat ride and people leaning over the side puking. I’m glad I didn’t partake in the hospitality, tequila served with worms. Drinking and a bobbing boat don’t mix. My stomach had no problems churning on its own. Robb’s book brought back the vivid memory. Thanks Robb.

As for the other countries, he does a great job getting you to laugh all through the book. Robb you’re gifted with divine humor. God’s been good to you.

However, I do believe he’d like some visitors because he promoted Canada. At the end he announced his birthplace. Thessalon, Ontario. I believe he’d like a date or something. Any eligible woman. Possibly a midget. I think he likes really short women. He made my eyes tear for him.

Sorry Robb, but I’m happily married with five dramatic daughters and two dogs. My dating days are over, buddy. But I’ll be glad to read your next book. When is that one coming out?

Okay, enough of the blah, blah…(that’s my line)

Buy Robb’s book. The price is cheap.

It’s funny. Believe me. I’ve already purchased a box of adult diapers for his next book.

That’s all for now folks!

Happy blogging, reading, and writing!

Publix, Where Shopping is a Pleasure

Wasn’t going to blog this morning but something came over me. The spirit of Robb Logger, perhaps. The need to blog this bothered me in my sleep. Strange dreams chattered and moved all night in my sleeping world again.

So here we go….

I shop at Publix, one of many chain grocery stores throughout Florida. Many believe such as myself that if you shop there for your groceries you’re pretty well off. Well, at least I’d like to think so.

So let me start again…

I shop at Publix, where shopping is a pleasure. That’s what the commercial says anyway---been brainwashed to think so since I was….that’s along time ago. Can’t say I find grocery shopping pleasurable. It takes me away from my writing. Nothings more pleasurable than writing. Well, maybe….won’t go there(it involves sweetman).

What I do find pleasurable…no wait…what I find funny is when I finally make it to the checkout line and the smiling cashier asks, “Did you find everything you were looking for today?”

It’s like being bonked on the head. I look at the nice cashier-person then my soon to be purchased items. Really? Why ask me that now? Can’t they see I obviously have everything I was looking for? What a silly question.

If I didn’t find everything I was looking for, why am I walking to the checkout line with a full cart?

So I thought, “What would Robb Logger do in a case like this?”

STOP THE CARTS! I’m thinking. Thinking carefully.

Okay. If I were Robb Logger I’d come to the checkout with an empty cart and a list of things.

I would take a picture of the smiling cashier asking me the silly question, “Did you find everything you were looking for today?”

I’d say, “No.” Hand her my list. A list of things that no one would ever be able to find. Things from a cookbook written in Japanese. After, I’d ask, “Can you find these things for me? Can’t find them anywhere?” I would probably take her picture again because by now her face would be twisted trying to figure out what the hell my list says.

I can see it now. I’m sure she’d hand it back to me and excuse herself to go get her manager. This would signal me to leave and leave quickly.

When I arrive home, I’d promptly sit at my computer and write about it. Post the cashier’s pics. Yup. That’s what Robb Logger would do.

I really think we should have those rubber bracelets that say, ‘What Would Robb Logger Do’. How about t-shirts? Wish I could figure out my digital camera. I’ve got some great ideas for one.

Wonder if his next book will be entitled, “What Would Robb Logger Do”. I can see it now. Yup. On the best selling cyber publishing list. Maybe the New York Times best selling list.

What do you all think?

Anyway, this week I’m reading Robb Logger’s “Don’t Go There.” Yup. Shelly’s going to post a review and interview with this famous guy, soon.

You can find him at : http://inspiredbycaffeinenicotine.blogspot.com/

That’s all for now folks!!!

Happy blogging, reading, and writing!!
