Coming Soon and Volunteers Needed

I’ve been working on getting three short stories ready for ebook reading pleasure for this summer. They will be released one at a time. The Partner’s Progeny will be the first one.

I’m so excited! The cover was approved yesterday. YAY!! And its really hard for me to keep it under wraps.

I’m pushing for the week of June 3rd to reveal it. The names of volunteers will be put in a drawing to win a 10 dollar Amazon card.

Also, I need at least 10 peeps who would like to read the ARC for reviews. Its no longer than 5 thousand words.

Here’s the blurb:

Bullies rule…or do they?

Victoria Sheek has been the paralegal supervisor for the law firm of Pereene, Carr, and Sevino for seventeen years. Rumors portray her as a bully. She maintains confident that she will never be replaced since her father; Mr. Carr, is one of the founding partners.

Until one day Monica Bowman is hired by Mr. Pereene, the head partner, and is apparently smitten with her resemblance to his deceased granddaughter, Melissa, and his memories of her.

Who will end up staying? Monica or Victoria. One will stay, but not without a surprising twist.

So let me know if you want to help reveal the cover down in the comment box.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Sweetman and I are looking forward to the chemo-free days ahead. He’s finished with it. Over the next several months he’ll be scanned and prodded to make sure all is good.

Thank all of you for your prayers, well-wishes, and good vibes.

Hugs and chocolate,

Shelly

Insecure Writer’s Support Group: Crazy

InsecureWritersSupportGroup

The first Wednesday of the month has come and I almost forgot that today is Alex J. Cavanaugh's Insecure Writer’s Support Group where we tell our insecurities or offer encouragement to one another.

My work schedule is one that changes from week to week. It kind of makes me crazy. This week I’m one day ahead of myself in my mind. Yesterday, I showed up for a chiropractic visit that was for today.

I like how the company refers to it as a flexible schedule. Like it’s a wonderful benefit or something.

But then…to some extent it is, I get to request the days off I want and most times I work a 1 to 9 shift, which leaves the mornings to write. And too, its been helpful because on the Sweetman’s chemo week, I only work the day shifts.

And speaking of Sweetman, he’s got one more chemo treatment. That begins next Monday. This Friday, he’s going for a blood transfusion. The chemo kills everything good, too. So his red blood cells are way too low.

And I want to thank everyone for their prayers, thoughts, and good vibes. If anything we should all wish and pray the best for our bloggy buddies out there.

I’ve read some heart wrenching things out there about what some of you are going through. You have my prayers, good vibes, and thoughts. Heck, I’ll even cry with you.

So I don’t feel insecure, I feel crazy. And I think about all of you through out my day.

Hugs and chocolate,

Shelly

PS I won’t be around today or tomorrow so I’ll have to play catch on Friday and Sunday.

Sir Poops and Hair Ball: Our Bedroom

SPAL: Hi, nice people. Hair Ball and I are still around.IMG_0615

HB: Yeah.

SPAL: We’ve discussed interviewing authors’ fur or feathered peeps instead of authors.

HB: Yeah. Some authors have referred to us as ‘dogs’. That’s a bad word. Right, pansy-boy?

SPAL: That’s right, stupid. They don’t care to associate with us fur-peeps.

HB: So we thought we’d show you our very own bedroom today.

SPAL: Yeah: Our sister, No-No-O left back in December. IMG_0609

HB: She moved to Israel and got married to a Yakov. What’s a Yakov anyway?

SPAL: Well, he’s not a Sausage. He’s a nice young man. That’s what Mummsy says anyway.

HB: Oh.

SPAL: So when our No-No-O left we were very sad for about a month.

HB: Yeah. No more buffet in the bed.IMG_0063

SPAL: No more piles of sweet smelling clothes to lounge around in.

HB: Yup. No more Facebook all night and sleep all day.

SPAL: Gone are the days of non-stop television and eating out of the garbage can.

HB: Yeah. Mummsy said she was a big slob. What’s a slob?

SPAL: A No-No-O.

HB: Oh.

SPAL: So we were really sad.

HB: And we cried and cried every night for our No-No-O to come back home. And she never did.

SPAL: No. She didn’t. We’ve been replaced with a Yakov. And Mummsy and Daddy-O were putting us into our boxes at night for bed after she left us.

HB: It was like being in prison.

SPAL: Yeah. It was. So one night, I body slammed my way out of mine and wailed really loud.

HB: I remember. And you did this for three nights in a row.IMG_0180

SPAL: That’s right. It got us our bedroom back. Didn’t it?

HB: It sure did. But without all the extras.

SPAL: But we have our beds and our own television set and big window to sunbathe by.

HB:I like it when Mummsy tucks us in bed at night, too.

SPAL: Me, too. She gives us lovey-loves and covers us with our blankies.

SPAL: Anyway, Daddy-O has one more chemo to do which is a good thing. He should be done in a month.

HB: Yeah. I’ll be glad. I miss playing chase with him. He lays in his bed a lot.

SPAL: We’ll see you guys next week. I’ve got a movie to watch. Blade II.

Lots of licks,

Sir Poops and Hair Ball

Insecure Writer’s Support Group: Priorities

InsecureWritersSupportGroup Today, is the first Wednesday of the month and time for Alex J. Cavanaugh's Insecure Writer’s Support Group, where we hold each other up in the bad and good times of our writing.

When I started seriously blogging in 2010, I did so everyday.  I also read a good two hours worth of blogs everyday. At 5 AM, I was up.

Now, I’m lucky to post once or twice a week and count my blessings when I actually get an hour to check out others’ blogs. To some extent, it really makes me sad and I feel guilty. Yesterday, I got an hour to read and I didn’t even comment on everyone's posts. But I did Tweet and Share. ***shrugs***

I came to the conclusion a while ago that I’m not Wonder Woman. Although for some reason Sweetman seems to think so. Especially now. So I’ve really had to prioritize things in a list every day. And right now, Sweetman is at the top of that list. He needs me more than ever. He’s been going through chemo the last six weeks. And we’ve got six more weeks to go.

Not only that, I’ve got peeps asking when my next book to Lila’s Journey will be out. The novel writing comes second to the Sweetman, guys. My plan this year is to have two novels published by December 2013 along with three short stories, which means less time blogging.

Oh and then there’s the little Glowstick and the Ho-Ho. I have to be there for these two precious grandbabies. There are times I just have to drop everything, including the writing, to be there for these two. Babies take a lot of time and they are both walking, which means they get into everything.

Not only that, Sweetman said the other day, “You’re slipping on the household chores.” I’m pretty sure he’s miserable and anything out of order is probably bugging him more than ever since he has absolutely no control over what is happening to him. He’s also on the extreme side of anal retentive and I’m not.

So guys, I really have to prioritize right now, but I’m still here.

How’s everyone else doing?

Hugs and chocolate,

Shelly

PS I miss participating in the A to Z this year.
