This is a picture of the outside of where we stayed in Galilee.
All the homes in the kibbutz resembled adobes. The construction of the homes there are unlike the ones we are used to in Florida. Homes are made out of cement, steel, and iron. No plywood exists in between the walls. All outside windows have a built in ability to be covered with heavy metal blinds. I’m sure the construction has something to do with the threat of being bombed.
This kibbutz is surrounded by mountains.
On this particular morning we decided to go to the spiritual and artsy-fartsy village, Safad. It’s all built into the the top and side of a mountain top. Also, it’s where the Kabalistic, Hasidic Jews, and many famous artist live.
We drove through a small town to get there. Posh Anni. The only descent picture I got out of this town was of their local police station. Pretty small place.
Below is the beginning of going up higher through some city. Didn’t get the name. Sorry. But it was crowded and the streets were tight.
When we got to the top of Safad, we parked our car by some pomegranate trees.
Below was the view between the trees.
Here’s another picture of a kittie in a garden by the parking lot.
Here are some other sites you’ll see. It’s almost like stepping back into the past with a touch of the future.
We went through the art market and looked at the different art offered.
The alleyway was a work of art itself.
Our friend Daniella.
A weaving loom.
Some guy with a geico.
More sights.
The above is a picture of a Yemenite restaurant. Last time I was there I bought some spices for a bread dip. Yummy!
The last pic concludes are adventures in Safad.
That’s all for now folks!
Happy blogging, reading, and writing!
Shelly
What a pretty place that incorporates the old and the new together.
ReplyDeleteLovely pics. I'm sure those homes are made comfortable by whomever occupies them. What a great trip.
ReplyDeleteI love your travel stories. Thanks again for sharing.
ReplyDeleteTerrific pics, Shelly!
ReplyDeleteThis just makes me feel like I'm the protagonist in an Old Testament movie. Love it...especially the guy with the gecco. And I still can't believe they let kitties roam everywhere. :)
ReplyDeleteTo everyone: Thanks for stopping by and my pictures don't really do Safad justice. I love that place.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting these, Shelly. They're wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOf course, the dogs demanded to know who that cat was when they saw the pics, didn't they?
ReplyDelete@norma: no problem. there are other places in isreal other than the gaza, the west bank, and jerusalem.
ReplyDelete@sir Wills: Told them it was a cousin.
Great picts, Shelly, interesting places you got to go to.
ReplyDeleteFantastic pics. I like the artwork and that visit to the restaurant made me hungry (I love spices) lol.
ReplyDelete@Lorelei: I like to go where there is peace and no contention.
ReplyDelete@Lynda: Thank you. I could stay in Safad forever.
Awesome pics! Forgive my ignorance, but you mentioned Galilee - is this near the Holy Land? I want to go there some day.
ReplyDelete@Allison it's North of the Holy Land.
ReplyDeleteWow, keep those photos coming. Wonderful trip you're having, yes?
ReplyDelete@Texas: I'll be posting more next Monday and Tuesday. Due to health issues and a crazy work schedule I've got to do everything in moderation, including blogging and my MS.
ReplyDeleteLots of lovely pictures. We in Jamaica also live in cement structures, which is safer as we live in a hurricane zone.
ReplyDeleteGreat, I feel like I just took a mini-trip. Thanks for posting these pics, it looks like quite an adventure.
ReplyDeleteShelly, you're going to want to delete that spammer Prasetyo out of here as soon as possible. That link goes nowhere good.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics Shelly!
ReplyDeleteHow are you? I think your email may have been hacked - I've received a lot of weird looking links =/
A xx
@JL: Wished they built homes like this in Florida.
ReplyDelete@Langley: Your welcome! I've been in slow-mo posting about my trip but I need to pace myself lately.
@Sir Wills: Thanks. He's been spammed.
@Antimony: I know about the hacking. I've been trying to fix it all week. Seriously thinking about canceling my yahoo account. Their system hasn't cooperated with me to fix my password.
And, how am I! Lately, exhausted.
