Sir Poops and Hair Ball: ISWG-Sometimes Life Gets in the Way

IMG_0375 SPAL: Good morning, nice people. We’ve been busy this last week.

HB: Yeah. We have.

SPAL: As I reported last week, I hid in my house for a few days. The Glowstick dominated our territory.

HB: Oh but it was fun! We played ball and ran though the house like maniacs.IMG_0351

SPAL: Yes. But Mummsy fell down the stairs trying to keep the Glowstick from falling. She hurt her left hand and bruised up her right leg, It’s still a little swollen down by the ankle and her hand is in a contraption.

HB: But it didn’t keep her down.

SPAL: No. It didn’t.

Monday, they went to The Ringling Museum. From what we heard the Glowstick loved the statutes and the giant murals. Even though Daddy-O said he wouldn’t make it through without a meltdown, he did.

IMG_0344

After that, they went and had lunch with Grandpa and Auntie Summy-sum-a-lum.

IMG_0353

Tuesday, Mummsy and the Glowstick went to The Florida Aquarium. The little guy had a blast. But he did have a meltdown toward the end. He didn’t want to leave.

IMG_0364

Wednesday, they went to the park. But it was too wet for the Glowstick to run around.

IMG_0366

So they went to McDonald’s and he ate a biscuit, some eggs, and sausage. After, he played in the Play Place for a good hour. He had another meltdown when it was time to go.

IMG_0369SPAL: Hanging out with the Glowstick meant Mummsy didn’t get any writing time in. And it left me totally wore out trying to come up with creative ways to hide.

HB: Yeah. And the way The Salon scheduled her, all she could work on was other peoples’ edits.

SPAL: And her housework.

HB: But she did visit some blogs.

SPAL: The best time to do that is when the little guy was totally zonked out.

HB: Which wasn’t much.

IMG_0360SPAL: No. It wasn’t. When he was awake, he was seeking out what to ransack. Why he even climbed into my house with me and closed us in. He even tried to eat my cookie. But I was patient with him.

HB: Well, I had fun. He’ll back next week for two days. I can hardly wait.

SPAL: But Mummsy won’t get anything done when he’s here.

HB: Well, she did say she would try writing at the McDonald’s Play Place even if its for an hour.

SPAL: But she needs to finish Killer Stilettos. It will be noisy and full of other little Glowsticks.

HB: She will.

SPAL: But she hasn’t decided which ending to use.IMG_0370

HB: You mean, she’s written a couple of endings?

SPAL: She always does, stupid.

HB: Oh.

SPAL: Anyway, she admires the Mommy Writers out there and is in awe at how they can write and take care of their families. And today is Alex J. Cavanaugh’s Insecure Writer's Group. It’s a great group for writer’s who get to feeling like our Mummsy does right now. I would say Mummsy feels like pulling out her hair out right about now.

HB: Yeah. Life happens in small packages sometimes.IMG_0342

SPAL: Yeah. Well, our sister Tinkerbell better get her act together for this little guy. Poor thing is going from house to house for now.

How do the Mommys out there do it?

Lots of licks!

  2. Neil Gaiman says that if we write only a page a day, in a year we will have written our novel. Write when you can. Live every moment, and try to get out of life's way!! Hope you heal swiftly, Roland

  3. I made the goals very small when my kids were small, like I will write for 10 minutes today or I will bring the notebook to the park and write a list of ideas. :) Happy IWSG day!

  4. The pics are so cute! Sorry to hear your Mummy fell down the steps, yikes. I'm sorry to laugh at you, SPAL, but I cracked up that trying to find places to hide wore you out. :D

  5. You sure have been busy! When my kids were small I just kept a journal. Now I have more time to write but still there will always be something or someone demanding my time. Probably by the time I can write whenever I want to, I will be to senile to remember what to write about....lol!

  8. That is so cute - and everyone's exhausted at the end :-) I'd go with a glow-stick every time. I get mesmerized by them.

  17. Oh my, if only Mommy knew how difficult it was to get to this site. Ended up on a magical mystery tour of Google+, no luck. Discovered her twitter feed and then, by pretending I was Colombo, I got here. Yay :)

Aha and please spare a thought for us Daddies :)

Hope you are having a lovely weekend.

    Penny's alleged human,

    Gary :)
