Sir Poops and Hair Ball: Hair Ball Complains

Hi everybody,

Me and Pansy-boy are late posting today. Mummsy left us this morning to go to that place she calls The Salon. So now I have no one to play Throw the Pumpkin with me. I'm soooo sad.

Yeah. I know I have a brother to keep me  company. But all he wants to do lately is sleep. Sleep, sleep, and sleep more. I couldn't even get him out of bed this morning. He gave me the most dumb look ever when I tried.

Mummsy says he's like 100 years old in two-legged time.

He's even been a hog at the food bowls. He growls at me when I'm trying to eat from mine. He's turned into a grouchy old fart.

This morning he tugged his head out of his collar when Mummsy took us out to do our business. He wanted to pee where he wanted to pee. Not where Mummsy walked us. And he takes forever trying to decide which blade of grass he'll whiz on. He's driving me crazy.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a happy Thursday while I wait for my Mummsy and Daddy-o to come back home.

Lots of licks,
Hair Ball

Sir Poops and Hairball: Being Thankful

SPAL: Good morning, nice people!

HB: Yeah. Good morning.

SPAL: We've been comtemplating a few things.

HB: Like being thankful for what God gives us everyday.

SPAL: This morning while we journeyed to make our first pees and poos, we saw this:

HB: And this:

SPAL: That little speck in the sky is a big moon. That's what Mummsy says.

HB: She also says we should count all of our blessings because God allows us to have them.

SPAL: Living in Florida is a blessing.

HB: Mummsy bought us new shirts. That's a blessing, too. They help to keep us warm.

SPAL: I'm thankful for my yummy cookies. These are my favorite.

HB: And I'm thankful for my kibble.

HB: And I'm thankful for my toys.

SPAL: I'm thankful for pillows. Especially Mummy's and Daddy-o's. They're nice and fluffy.

HB: We have lot to thank God for.

SPAL: What are all the nice people thankful for today?

Lots of licks,

A Valentine's Tribute: Phanmalee Khoumpapakdy

I remember scribbling Mrs. Phanmalee Khoumpapakdy during some really boring class time in the tenth grade. Daydreams of what our children might look like one day filled my head. This guy dominated my thoughts non-stop.

When I first met him, we both were attending a Friday night youth group. He definitely caught my eye. Bruce Lee came to mind--I had a terrible crush on him, too. It had to be his moves.

Anyway, after our first date, Phanmalee and I were inseparable after school. We did almost everything together.

One day we'd be at my house, and the next we'd be at his.

His grandmother would clasp her hands together. "Phanmalee and Shell mare-lee." Then she'd stuff a dried chili pepper between her teeth and chew. Personally, I couldn't figure out how she could keep something that hot in her mouth throughout the day. She replaced them frequently.

His entire family that couldn't speak English had it in their heads for us to get "Mare-lee" one day.

"Make purdy bay-bay," his mom said.

But as you all know, I never married him. In fact, we broke up 8 months later due to cultural differences, and the fact that I had a meddling mother. But he'll always be ingrained in my memory.

Anyone ever have a boyfriend your family didn't like and why?

Oh and see what the Sweetman got me!

And here's my little Valentine. There's nothing better than grandbaby hugs and kisses.
I hope everyone has a day full of chocolate, flowers, hugs, and kisses today.

Hugs and chocolate, all!
Shelly

Sir Poops and Hair Ball: ISWG: When the Tough Get Going

Good morning, nice people. This morning I've decided to just read. So I pulled my bed and blanket up onto the bookshelf where there are lots of books. We have a ton. Daddy-o loves Tom Clancey novels. Mummsy reads all kinds of books.

Anyway, watching Mummsy write and write and write gets to me sometimes. Especially the days when she just stares at her computer screen for hours and then she does a frustrated face palm.

On days like that she ends up reading, beta reading, or critiquing another's work. It keeps her in the groove.

The writer's life can be tough. So when the tough get going, pull up your bed and grab your blanket along with a good book.
This was written on behalf of all our writerly friends who are a part of Alex J. Cavanaugh's Insecure Writer's Group. We post the first Wednesday of every month to offer encouragement or to cry about our insecurities.

You can also find this group on Facebook.

Lots of licks,
Sir Poops
