Insecure Writer’s Group: On a Tight Rope

InsecureWritersSupportGroup It's another Wednesday where Alex J. Cavanaugh hosts all of us feeling either elated with joy and encouragement, or those of us feeling a little less worthy of being called an author.

Secondhand Shoes was released not long ago. I had a three day blog party without the booze, drugs, and debauchery. For three days, it fluctuated between #18 to #13 on the Amazon charts. Now it looks like its been tossed in a sea of ebooks. ***frowns***

“Psst,” a quiet voice says. “Never look down.”

“Why?” I ask.

“Because, you’ll keep your footing if you look up.”

“Huh?”

“If you look down. it will scare the bejesus out of you. Then you will wobble and begin to doubt yourself.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah. Keep your chin up. Don’t worry. Finish your other projects. And remember your stories will go to the people who need them.”

“But----“

“Whatever you do, don’t look down.”

Everyone have a great writing day. Hug your family and your fur peeps. And keep looking up.

Hugs and chocolate,

Shelly

  7. The false idea that "more exercise is better" has
caused people to spend too much time working out while achieving little in
way of body transforming results. Once it all reaches a chest carry it
on flex for that moment before slowly slashing it backtrack and then repeat.
Grip the dumbbells and kick out your legs in a push position.

  8. Be at one with the fur peeps... sounds weird but they are living today and that is a good thing.
No matter what others say or think, guess what you wrote and published a book in a crappy (can I say crappy ?) economy. Plus you did something you liked and put it out in the world.
    Good for you girlfriend !
    WooHoo !

    cheers, parsnip

  10. Well, now you have advice about "dumb bells" as well!
Gak! Ratings schmatings. I try not to go there--it isn't good for you to dwell on such things unless your name is Rowling or King, or...you get my drift.
    Just keep on writin', hon!
    Chocolate hugs.

  14. I wish I could hug you and give you chocolate~
I feel this way, when I get my stuff in magazines or submit and wait n' wonder. It drives me nuts...I'm good, I suck, I should of done this and that~ NO, you did great...I have your book, but I'm behind in reading. I am working on cloning myself and one of me gets to eat all the chocolate, she wants ;D

Hang in there and keep going! It is a bumpy ride, but so worth it!

  15. I hope you can keep with that and always be looking up! Well, until you inevitably get to the top, of course. Then again, one can always go higher.

  21. I came for the writing challenge, but hey, I found another IWSG member instead. Cool. I agree with the never look down philosophy, and add to that, never look back. Best of luck with those ratings - yours were at least marvellous to begin with - I began in the 'dead-sea-of-ebooks' and remains there since December 2012! :D

  22. Hey! Chin up, your book was published. I have five unpublished novels waiting to be found.
