Travel Tales: Safad and Other Pictures

Friday, September 9, 2011

DSC01279This is a picture of the outside of where we stayed in Galilee.

All the homes in the kibbutz resembled adobes. The construction of the homes there are unlike the ones we are used to in Florida. Homes are made out of cement, steel, and iron. No plywood exists in between the walls. All outside windows have a built in ability to be covered with heavy metal blinds. I’m sure the construction has something to do with the threat of being bombed.

On this particular morning we decided to go to the spiritual and artsy-fartsy village, Safad. It’s all built into the the top and side of a mountain top. Also, it’s where the Kabalistic, Hasidic Jews, and many famous artist live.

We drove through a small town to get there. Posh Anni. The only descent picture I got out of this town was of their local police station. Pretty small place.

Below is the beginning of going up higher through some city. Didn’t get the name. Sorry. But it was crowded and the streets were tight.

When we got to the top of Safad, we parked our car by some pomegranate trees.

The above is a picture of a Yemenite restaurant. Last time I was there I bought some spices for a bread dip. Yummy!
