A Book Review: Lisa Olsen’s, The Touch

the touch

  Genre: Paranormal

The Book Blurb:

Lexi Morgan has always had The Touch; the ability to pick up an object and 'see' its past. Doomed to wearing protective gloves at all times, she learned to accept it as equal parts gift and curse. When her brother in law Neil disappears, she'd rather tell her sister to celebrate than try to help find the jerk. But after her young niece vanishes as well, it's time to put her gift to good use and help track her down, especially when handsome Detective Gabriel Ryan takes over the case. When the investigation leads them to the restless spirits of long dead children, they must work together to keep history from repeating itself before it's too late.

Shelly’s Review:

There wasn’t anything I disliked about this book. Ms. Olsen’s talent for telling this story from page one hooked me right away. Her main character, Lexi, is quirky and self-confidant but also vulnerable and shows insecurities with intimacy. Something we all struggle with at times.

Alli is Lexi’s sister, prim and proper. She lives in denial over her husband, Neil’s, cheating ways. To the outside world, everything looks rosy but the story opens with her husband missing.

Choe is Lexi’s niece. Sometime after Neil’s disappearance, she confides in her aunt about ghosts in her house and her mother’s strange behavior. Not long after her dad’s disappearance, she goes missing, too.

Gabriel is the detective assigned to the case, an old boyfriend to Alli from high school. Out of curiosity, he takes a quick liking to Lexi despite her qift and purple-streaked hair. The relationship between the two are good chemistry-a tug of war so to speak- even though there’s a crime to solve, possibilities of a romance are brewing.

Paul is one of Lexi’s housemates. He’s got the hots for her, too, and has known her a lot longer than Gabriel. The chemistry’s not so bad here either. It keeps you wondering who she will end up with in the end.

There are other characters to add to this intoxicating brew but I’ll let you find out for yourselves. More than likely, Ms. Olsen will have you wondering about Alli’s strange behavior and what do the ghost have to do with anything. Even the house gives you a deep-down-creepy feeling.

You can find her book on Amazon.com. It’s now in paperback for 9.99 and on Kindle for 3.99.

Shelly gives this book Twenty-five shiny stars. Like I always say, why give five when you can give more.

Also, I reading her book, Angle of Mercy. I’m half way through and tickle me timbers…that’s all I’ll say for now.

Happy blogging, reading, and writing!

Shelly

  1. I do love paranormal stories. This reminds me of the series, Medium, the one with Patricia Arquette...boy was that awesome. :)

  2. The paranormal creeps me out - I probably read too much of it as a teen.

  9. @Mike: Yes. It's a gripper all right so is Angel of Mercy. I'm 55% halfway through.

@Lisa: I'm not really too picky. Although, I like show versus tell and good sentence structure. However, I will overlook the occassional spelling error. Most times those are typos.
