Heart Worms and Fleas

When Sir Poops had his third emergency visit to the vet, his breath was short and shallow. I stayed up with him all night thinking his time had come. He made it through so I rushed him to the vet early in the morning.

During that visit, I learned that he had an enlarged heart and water on his lungs.

"Is he on heart worm preventative?" the vet asked.

"Not the conventional kind," I said. "I use Diatomaceous Earth."

"That doesn't work. I'm going to check him for heart worms. That's why his heart is enlarged. I'm sure of it."

I let him run the test knowing my fur-baby had no such thing. Holistic means do work if properly kept up with.

Hair Ball and Sir Poops never had a problem with flea infestations either. A teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in their water bowl kept those critters away plus a bath every other week. One cup of Dawn and one cup of vinegar mixed with equal parts water washed any intruders down the drain. The biggest flea count the two ever had was ONE each.

Anyway, when the vet came back with the heart worm test, he hesitantly announced, "You're lucky. He doesn't have any. But still you should put him on a heart worm preventative."

I shot him a look, and said, "Would you spray your food with Raid?"

"Oh! You're one of them!"

Yeah. I was and still am. My pets deserve the best.

Sir Poops and Hair Ball: ISWG: Slacker Central

Good morning, nice people! Or afternoon?

Today, I want to talk about my Mummsy and brother, Sir Poops. They're a couple of slackers.

I'll start with my brother.

As you can see, this is all he does. And if he isn't lounging around, he's whining for Mummsy or Daddy-o to hold him. And when he's not whining to be held, he's pooping on our floors. He's become such a slacker in his old age. I mean, he takes medicine. Shouldn't he be better by now?

Then there's Mummsy.

Can you believe she's still in her jammie's? She stayed in bed until 9:30 this morning. She had to work an 8 day work week. She hasn't written anything since Sunday. She's acting like a zombie. Thank God, she doesn't want to eat my brains. But I wish she'd get up and play with me.

Not to mention, she feels stuck with Killer Stilettos. It's not going where she wants it. So I told her to work on something else. And that's what she's doing. But right this moment she's being a slacker sipping on tea and staring at Fox News. Maybe that'll get her off her bum. The news is not known to be good around here.

Lots of licks and belly rubs,

Sir Poops and Hair Ball: Enjoying the Blanky

Hello, nice people! I'm happy today. My Mummsy's been home working on her writing and doing housework.

I love it when she's here. I've been watching her from my favorite blanky. It's my most favorite one. It's so soft and squishy.

Life is still good even though I'm not at my best. I still love my foodies. I can still get my legs to make a happy dance, but I have to concentrate real hard. I still love lovey-loves. Those are the best.

Hope all you, nice people are well.

Lots of licks and belly rubs!

Sir Poops and Hair Ball: Feeling Ugly

Hello, nice people! I'm still here. But feeling ugly right now ... and cold.

Mummsy had to shave me bald. My once, beautiful coat, matts no matter how many times she brushes it a day. That used to be one of my favorite past times. Now it's just too painful.

I wish I could be a puppy again.

The above picture is me. I was 8 weeks old when Mummsy brought me home. She paid 75 dollars for me because the show breeder said I was to big for a Chinese Crested to do shows. But Mummsy loved me anyway.

I sat in a box next to her on the way to my new home, shaking all the way. I had no clue at the time what a wonderful life I would have.

And it really has been a wonderful one.

Have a nice day everyone. Get lots of lovey-loves, belly rubs, and licks. Give them out, too.

Sir Poops

PS I couldn't get the last pic to turn around for me.

Sir Poops and Hair Ball: The Pooper That Keeps On Giving

Hey, nice people!

I know the post is late today. Sir Poops kept me up all night. He kept pooping all night. He wouldn't stop.  I even got trapped between 2 piles. So I cried and cried until Mummsy woke up and saved me.

Right now, Mummsy is following my brother around the living room with a bucket. He's having a colitis attack again. He doesn't look so good. Mummsy feels he's not going to be with us much longer anyway.

It's hard for him to breathe. And he can barely walk.

Mummsy is doing everything she can to make him comfy. But he doesn't look like it.

Please pray for my stupid brother. I really do like him. I just pretend that I don't.

Lots of licks and belly rubs!

Sir Poops and Hair Ball: Insecure Writer's Group

SPAL: ***Yawns*** Hello, nice people! Don't mind me. I'm enjoying the sun this morning. It's so nice and warm.

HB: You're just getting old, pansy boy.

SPAL: No. I'm not. I'm just a little more tired than normal.

HB: Mummsy says you sound like you've been smoking cigarettes.

SPAL: I'm smarter than that, stupid. Anyway, Mummsy's been concerned about so many things. Daddy-o and her writing.

HB: Yeah. Stuff keeps happening.

SPAL: I know. She's worried about making her self-imposed deadline for Killer Stilettos. Last year, she had it set for December 2013 and it didn't happen.

HB: She needs to eat more chocolate and calm down.

SPAL: I think she needs to lay down and hang out in the sun.

Lots of licks and belly rubs, nice people!

Sir Poops and Hair Ball: Malfunction Junction

Hello, nice people!

Sir Poops here. Hair Ball and I had prepared to interview Bish's spider for today. But our house has been crazy since last week. So we're more than exhausted right now.

Yup! Our Daddy-o has been having malfunctions. Last week, he had a problem with something called a kidney. This week, it's his sugar. Whatever that is.

I guess that's why Mummsy says God should've sent us all into the world with a box of parts and a warranty.  Then we could fix him for free. She says the hospital wanted more than what she makes in year for Daddy-o's care.

Anyway, we'll see you all next week for Alex J. Cavanaugh's Insecure Writer's Group.

Lots of licks and belly rubs!

Sir Poops and Hair Ball: Who Wants a Cookie?

HB: Hey! Who wants a cookie besides me and my stupid brother who is hiding out in his box. He hates it when I chase him with Mumnsy's iPhone for a picture.

SPAL: Well...I don't really like getting my picture taken. But if you give me one of your cookies, I might let you.

HB: Nope. Not! They're mine. But I'll be glad to give an award today. A nice handsome and cute picture of myself to one of the greatest and most kindest bloggers out there.

SPAL: Oh God! Not that again!

HB: Can you guess who I'm giving it to?

SPAL: ***he rolls his eyes*** All of the bloggers in the blogosphere? Right?

HB: Nope! Because not everyone is the Santa Claus of the blogosphere.

SPAL: Well maybe a picture of your stupid self might cheer him up. I did read during the A to Z Challenge that he was worried about peeps forgetting about him  and his book Casa Fire because he was slow writing the next one in his series.

                                                                    It's on Amazon

HB: No one could be as slow as Mummsy. She's still working on Killer Stilettos and is having issues keeping on-line crit partners.

SPAL: Hope she doesn't have that problem when it's time to find beta readers.

HB: We're getting off track here, pansy. We'll discuss that on our Insecure Writer's Group post. Anyway, Mr. Alex J. Cavanaugh, I'd be glad to share at least one of my cookies and  a nice picture of myself with you.

Lots of licks and belly rubs for the rest of you!

Next week we're hoping to get an interview with Bish's spider.

Sir Poops and Hair Ball: Guardian of the Garden

Hi, nice people. It's me, Hair Ball. My old pansy brother is snoozing again.

That's all he seems to do anymore. Sleep and sleep and sleep.

Anyway, Blogger is being a Blooger again so I'm typing on the iPhone. This is very   difficult and hard on my paws, you know.

It also upsets me that I can't give another cute picture of myself to another blogger. Google Chrome and Blogger aren't in sync today I guess.

But I'd like to show you something.

That's Mummsy's patio garden.

And I'm the Guardian of it. I get to yell at squirrels and raccoons. Yep. I sure do.

Okay. I'm gonna go now. I know a lot of you like Mummsy have been doing Arlee Bird's April A to Z Blog Challenge.

Me and Sir Poops will see you, nice people, next week. Hopefully, my pansy brother will stay awake long enough to say 'hi' to everyone.

I'm also hoping Blogger and Google Chrome will get it together by then.

Lots of licks and belly rubs, everyone!

Sir Poops and Hair Ball: Happy Chocolate Bunny Day!

SPAL: Good morning, nice people! Happy Chocolate Bunny Day!

HB: Yeah. I want a chocolate bunny. I would give him a leg hug and a kiss and some licks and some raspberries and a belly rub. And then I'd nibble on his ears.

SPAL: ***rolls his eyes*** Anyway, Mummsy says this whole week...since she and Daddy-o practice Passover and a lot of nice people celebrate Easter...well, it's about how God always makes a way to deliver people out of bondage.

HB: And get chocolate.

Have a day full of licks and belly rubs with your families, nice people!

Lots of licks!

Sir Poops and Hair Ball: Wednesday's Adventure with Edwin Elf

Edwin: I've got the perfect fun thing to do today.

SPAL: Ut-oh. I'm going to hide in my box then. Leave me out of this. It's going to be another day of the stupid leading the stupid.

Edwin: Suite yourself, you ole chicken pansy.

HB: I like that. Chicken-pansy.

Edwin: You ready for some fun? We're going slide down the stair railing as many
times as we can. Where's that
Mummsy?

HB: She had to go get something called an ultrasound today.

Edwin: Good. Nothing and no one can spoil our fun today.

HB: Yeah!

SPAL: I'm still going to tell on the two of you.

Edwin: Just ignore that chicken-pansy. Come on!

HB: Okay!

Edwin and HB: Weeeeeeee! Kaplunk!

HB: Let's do it again and again and again!

Sir Poops and Hair Ball: Torture,Pirates, and Donna K. Weaver

IMG_0195 HB: Hi, nice people. This was me earlier. Yup. Mummsy coaxed me into this room with cookie pieces. IMG_0231

Poor little, little me. She strapped me to that orange noose. Can you believe it?That’s why we’re late posting today. Mummsy carried out plans to torture me today. She no longer pays Lisa Dominatrix at the pet shop to do it.

You wouldn’t believe what she did. All my beautiful hair has been shaved off. Woe is me! Woe is me! The Death by Metal Teeth buzzed off my beloved tresses. I can’t believe Mummsy did this to me.

Woe is me!

SPAL: And you call me pansy boy. You cried like a girl in there.

HB: But she used the Death by Metal Teeth on me.

IMG_0225

SPAL: That’s a massager, stupid. It feels incredible on my belly. It’s the ultimate tummy rub.

IMG_0198

HB: But look. All my hair is gone. It fell off and died because of those Death by Metal Teeth.IMG_0226 Mummsy kept telling me I’d get more cookies if I stayed. She told me she loved me. She told me I was a good boy. She tricked me.

SPAL: ***laughs***

HB: What are you laughing at? I’m bald and my hair is dead.

SPAL: You won’t be bald for long. Your fluff always comes back. Besides, its better that Mummsy shave you with the Death by Metal Teeth than Daddy-O. He’s the one that nicked your eye the last time. Remember?

HB: Yeah. Anyway, Mummsy then gave me a cookie and put me in the Great Watery Abyss of Torture. I pleaded with her to stop, but she kept telling me how purdy I would be. And how good I would smell. She even gave me more cookies. I thought I would drown despite the cookies.

IMG_0230

SPAL: ***Gasps and shudders***

HB: Yeah. Tomorrow its your turn.

SPAL: Okay, nice people. I’m going into hiding now, but please stay and check out Donna K. Weaver’s debut novel. Its got pirates, action, and romance.

WHAT THE BOOK’S ABOUT

When Lyn sets off on her supposedly uncomplicated and unromantic cruise, she never dreams it will include pirates. All the 25-year-old, Colorado high school teacher wants to do is forget that her dead fiancé was a cheating scumbag. Lyn plans a vacation diversion; fate provides Braedon, an intriguing surgeon. She finds herself drawn to him: his gentle humor, his love of music, and even his willingness to let her take him down during morning karate practices. Against the backdrop of the ship's make-believe world and temporary friendships, her emotions come alive.

However, fear is an emotion, too. Unaware of the sensitive waters he's navigating, Braedon moves to take their relationship beyond friendship--on the very anniversary Lyn is on the cruise to forget. Lyn's painful memories are too powerful, and she runs from Braedon and what he has to offer.

Their confusing relationship is bad enough, but when the pair finds themselves on one of the cruise's snorkeling excursions in American Samoa things get worse. Paradise turns to piracy when their party is kidnapped and Lyn's fear of a fairytale turns grim. Now she must fight alongside the man she rejected, first for their freedom and then against storms, sharks, and shipwreck.

Sir Poops and Hair Ball: Sharing Nosh with Fiona

SPAL: Hi, nice people. IMG_0298

HB: Yeah. Hi. Got some treats? ***he jumps up and down***

SPAL: ***his head bobs up and down, watching HB***That’s not nice. ***he looks out at the nice people*** Today, we have our first interview with a fur-peep, named Fiona.

HB: Isn’t that Shreck’s girlfriend? She’s an ogre, right?

SPAL: Well, lets ask her since she doesn’t look like either on of us. She’s definitely not a Malti-poo, like you, or a Chinese Crested, like myself. ***He looks at Fiona*** So what breed your are?

Fionaoutside

F: My name is Fiona and I’m a Chihuahua. I also hang out with my older stepsister Pinky. She’s not blood relation but we kind of look alike don’t you think? She is so smart! I think she’s half Chihuahua and half golden retriever but that sounds like a stretch. Pinky has taught me all kinds of cool naughty things. She’s great at dumpster diving, shredding toilet paper and she even told me I don’t need puppy pads anymore! Freedom!*does a specialized happy dance which involves two 360 turns and a little leap in the air.*Anyway, I love being mischievous, don’t you?

HB:***waggles his brows*** I’d love to get mischievous with you. Come here let me smell*** he chases Fiona in a circle***

SPAL: ***puts up his paws*** No butt huffing! Absolutely not! This is an interview. And I’m all about keeping it clean.

HB: ***stops*** You’re no fun.

SPAL: I’m an adult. We’re not supposed to fun. That’s what Mummsy used to say to our sisters. ***he glances at Fiona*** Who is your proud adult parent?

F: Don’t you boys know our Pop and Eve? Pop thinks we’re stinky. He thinks we’re two of the stupidest dogs that ever lived but Mom says we’re also the cutest. She likes to get us nice toys and she lets us snuggle on her lap when we’re watching Wheel of Fortune. It’s funny how human peeps yell at the television just like they yell at us when we do something disobedient. All that fuss over vowels and consonants. Sheesh. Anyway, I think yelling at the idiot box is stupid. Did you hear that Pops? I just took a leak on the carpet because Pops said my nose looks like a piglet. I don’t think he’s too proud of me but I still love him. When he comes home I’m always happy.

HB: You whiz on the carpet? That’s as bad as pansy boy here pooping on the bathroom floor upstairs.

SPAL: Yeah. Well…you…you…whiz on peoples’ feet.

HB: I can’t help I get excited. But why do you poop on the bathroom floor? I know its premeditated.

SPAL: ***ignores HB*** Hey, Fiona. What does your parent write, draw, or paint? My Mummsy writes.

F: Mom is a writer but we think she’s just sitting at the computer so we can’t jump on her lap.

HB: Really? My Mummsy lets me in her lap when she’s at her computer. Do you like hanging out with your mom at all while she works on their projects?

F: Are you kidding me little man? I’d grow old waiting for her to finish what she’s doing. I’m very independent and prefer looking out the sliding glass window. Pinky is older and much bigger--*whispers* (She’s 20 pounds!) and keeps her eyes on my mom at all times. It’s so weird—she acts like a freakin’ baby!

Pinky and Fiona 001

HB: Oh.

SPAL: Hmmm… Well, where do you like to sit? On their lap? At their feet? Or on their keyboards or crayons?

F: I might be independent but when it’s cold, my favorite is being zipped into Mom’s hoodie. With summer coming, I don’t think she’ll be doing that anymore. When I’m all comfy in her robe or hoodie, she has her hands free to write and I can watch and make sure she doesn’t make any typos. This blissful feeling doesn’t last long though because I get restless or one of us has to pee. Maybe someday I’ll get a hoodie too. One of those Ninja hoodies so I can go undercover and show you boys how you should never mess with female pups because we are super tough! *growls*

307737_154088828063903_1723886832_n

HB: Well…I’m Wolverine. ***growls back at Fiona***

SPAL: ***he puts his paws on his hips*** Stop it, you two. Or no treats.

HB: Speaking of treats, what do you and your mom like to nosh on? And would you be willing to share?

F: We’re not allowed to have any people food but Mom sneaks all kinds of small snacks our way. Our new favorite is peanut butter--that stuff is divine. Pops says I’m greedy, so I guess I’m not that great at sharing. Sorry. Our new pooch food is IAMS and I eat it all day. Do you think I’ll get fat like Pinky?

HB: Fat? ***he studies Fiona*** As long as you keep running in circles, I don’t think so. I’d be happy to chase you so I can smell your…***he waggles his brows***

SPAL: What did I tell you two? Such behavior is not allowed in an interview.

HB and Fiona ignore SPAL. They sniff and chase each other, all the while giggling.

Fiona and I

Eve Gaal’s newly published book is Penniless Hearts. It’s about that feeling you get when all your human peeps leave you alone and you wonder when or if they’re coming back. The reviews are good and we liked it because there’s a small dog in the story. Her name is Lulu. You can find it here:

http://www.amazon.com/Penniless-Hearts-Eve-Gaal/dp/1481913107/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1368154346&sr=1-1&keywords=penniless+hearts+by+eve+gaal

SPAL: Mummsy says Ms. Evie’s books is one the most funniest books she’s read in a long time. She loved it. You can find her review on the book over at Amazon and Goodreads.

Lots of licks,
