Alternate Reality

Wiki-pedia staes that “A parallel universe or alternative reality is a hypothetical self-contained separate reality coexisting with one's own. A specific group of parallel universes is called a "multiverse", although this term can also be used to describe the possible parallel universes that constitute physical reality. While the terms "parallel universe" and "alternative reality" are generally synonymous and can be used interchangeably in most cases, there is sometimes an additional connotation implied with the term "alternative reality" that implies that the reality is a variant of our own. The term "parallel universe" is more general, without any connotations implying a relationship, or lack of relationship, with our own universe. A universe where the very laws of nature are different – for example, one in which there are no relativistic limitations and the speed of light can be exceeded – would in general count as a parallel universe but not an alternative reality. The correct quantum mechanical definition of parallel universes is "universes that are separated from each other by a single quantum event."

I often wonder who I am and what I’m doing in my alternate reality, if one actually exists. And if, there’s such a place where would my portal be to get to my other world or worlds?

Where would I be living? Europe? America? Another planet, perhaps?

Would I be in more than one dimension?

Would I have five kids? Girls? Boys? Both? Or, no kids?

Would I live in a house? Apartment? Trailer? A tent, perhaps?

Who would my parents be?

Would I have a husband? Boyfriend?

Would I be single or married?

Would I be a good person? Evil, perhaps?

The thought of an alternate reality blows my mind but it would be cool. It’s awesome to consider I may have another life in another dimension or two out in the universe.

What about you? Often wonder?

That’s all for now folks!

Happy blogging, reading, and writing!

Shelly

P.S. Help save your local library today!

Would I be  a lawyer? A flight attendant? A published writer, perhaps?

  1. Yeah, I think I've wondered about that before...it's kind of neat to think that someone here (in this dimension, and this world) might be the same as me...(Oh Lord have Mercy...LOL) I have yet to find said person, but they say we all have a twin somewhere...Not sure if that's true or not, but I suppose.

Maybe in a parallel universe, the "other" would be our polar opposite...you have 5 girls, they would have 5 boys...I have one girl, my other would have one boy...that sort of thing.

Hard to say...will we ever know???

  2. Great blog, have also wondered myself about parallel universe, kind of mind boggeling to think about. Found you from the A-Z Challenge, it sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun, with maybe with a little bit of stress thrown in!! I’m now following you on GFC and I hope you have a chance to check out my blog!

  3. I think if it's a parallel universe then she has to be exactly like you. Five kids and sweet!

  4. Isn't that what we do as writer's...write about alternate realities. Where else can all of the crazy ideas come from? Great start on the A-Z challenge Shelly!

  5. Shelly, an intriguing and thought-provoking post. Can you identify any forks in the road of your life that would have changed it, had you gone down the other path? I can think of a couple of mine.

I afree with Nikki though that we writers imagine and write about alternate realties every time we sit down to write.
    Cool idea!

    Good luck with the challenge!

  7. Hmm... I actually avoid topics like that that are likely to fry my brain.

Still, I have been known to ponder the theory of relativity.

So... I think I'll think about this for a bit.

By the way, if you keep going, I'm sure you'll stumble onto an awesome story idea.

    :-)

  8. In the UK at the moment it's all about the Alternative Vote on which there is going to be a referendum in May. Strange they only give us a Yes or No choice!

I found you via the A-Z Challenge too.

  9. Hello Everyone: Thank you all for stopping by. Your comments were intriguing. Especailly the one about the Alternative Vote.

I'm sure if I thought hard enough I'd come up with another story idea. Right now I'm working on an Angel who questions God's decision. The plot involves child abuse and children. One living and one dead.

And good luck to all who have joined this challenge. Now I'm off to check everyone else out.

  10. If they're from the Evil Universe, the guys must all have goatee beards. First law of parallel evil dimensions, after all.
